  SAMPLE LETTER:

Tell Barack Obama and Congress that the United Nations must not be allowed to expel American watchdog groups for defending American values.  The UN must restore Anne Bayefsky’s credentials.

For Senate:

The Honorable (full name)
(Room #) (Name) Senate Office Building
United States Senate
Washington, DC 20510

[Today’s date]

Dear Senator:

For House:

The Honorable (full name)
(Room #) (Name) House Office Building
United States House of Representatives
Washington, DC 20515

[Today’s date]

Dear Representative:

[Body:]

I write to you as an American citizen and a constituent who is extremely distressed at the United Nations’ recent dismissal of Anne Bayefsky.  As director of the Institute on Human Rights and the Holocaust at New York's Touro College, Bayefsky is head of an American Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) entitled to access United Nation proceedings. She was stripped of her credentials in the aftermath of speaking out against the UN's biased resolution on the Goldstone Report, a biased attack on Israel that the US Congress itself has strongly repudiated. Bayefsky’s expulsion is an affront to American values and to our government's attempt to reform the United Nations.

With all urgency, I ask you to demand that:

  • Secretary of State Clinton and Ambassador Rice protect U.S. NGOs from persecution at the UN.
  • The State Department work with our Western allies in the UN to restore Ms. Bayefsky's credentials immediately.
Please assure me of your assistance and critical attention to this important matter.

Sincerely,

[Your name and address]
