Jihad and Islamic Antisemitism:
Conjoined Threats to Life, Liberty, and Human Dignity

Andrew G. Bostom

Tuesday, June 17, 2008 - 7:00 p.m.
Temple Ner Maarav
17730 Magnolia Blvd.
Encino, CA  91316

Dr. Bostom's presentation will introduce evidence which elucidates these conceptions,
and understandings:

  • That Islamic Antisemitism is rooted in Islam’s foundational texts (in particular, the Koran), and the behaviors of the Muslim prophet Muhammad, as expressed since the advent of the creed, and this phenomenon is not a European import which dates only from the Western colonization of Islamic countries in the 19th and 20th centuries, or the even later impact on the Muslim world of Fascism/ Nazism, beginning in the 1930s.

  • To understand some of the major, specific Antisemitic motifs in the Koran, the hadith (words, deeds, and even unspoken gestures of Muhammad, as putatively recorded by Muhammad’s companions, and accumulated in canonical collections by pious Muslim compilers), and the sira (the earliest pious Muslim biographies of Muhammad).

  • To understand how these Antisemitic motifs have been expressed in Muslim societies, across space and time, continually, from Muhammad’s era, through the present.

  • To understand how specific Antisemitic motifs in Islamic theology, especially Islamic eschatology (“end of times” beliefs), the uniquely Islamic institution of jihad war, and its corollary institution, i.e., “dhimmitude,” the concept of a permanent subjugated status for all non-Muslims vanquished by jihad, including Jews—operate in tandem with regard to the annihilationist Muslim Jew-hatred directed at the Jews of Israel.

Andrew G. Bostom, M.D., M.S. (Providence, RI),is the author of the highly acclaimed The Legacy of Jihad: Islamic Holy War and the Fate of Non-Muslims. He is an Associate Professor of Medicine in the Division of Renal Diseases at Rhode Island Hospital, the major teaching affiliate of Brown University Medical School. Dr. Bostom has published numerous articles and commentaries on Islam in the Washington Times, National Review Online, Revue Politique, FrontPage Magazine.com, American Thinker, and other print and online publications.
